Your Life On Earth: Philosophy Project
For this project we were tasked to develop our own personal philosophies on life and then present the morals in some fashion. For my project I quickly established that my philosophy behind life is simply that everyone should help each other and spread kindness. So I made some yummy desserts for exhibition and gave them out for free to people hoping to bring joy into their days. Below are a few images of the sweet treats I made:
The image on the left shows a massive pot of rice krispies and a double boiler on the right serving the purpose of making a homemade frosting. the right image shows a half way eaten tupperware of the brownies and rice krispies I had at exhibition.
With the tasty goodies I made for the exhibition I also wrote an artist statement explaining my ideology and purpose for giving out the baked goods.
Project Reflection:
1.) This project was one of the most open ended projects I have done in humanities. When I think of my life on earth I think of trying to be the best person I can be whilst spreading genuine kindness. For this project we were tasked to figure that out and create a personal philosophy and project and present it in some way. I decided to make a ton of baked goods and hand them out at an exhibition. I made brownies, and lots of rice Krispie treats. The main essential question my project was seeking to answer was: What does it mean to live a meaningful life? and/or What gives your life meaning? and/or What is a life well-lived? My inspiration behind my project was that to live a meaningful life you have to be friendly and spread kindness. At least for me that's how I find meaning, whether I buy a friend a drink or in this case give out treats I feel better and that's what brings me meaning. In the sense of a life well lived I think that matter changes per person. For me a life well lived would be one where you find joy and happiness with what you have but make the most out of everyday. I love nature and cooking and I realized that putting those things first allows me to find meaning in my everyday life. I also got inspired to do this project because I love cooking. I have always been a chef in the kitchen and I really enjoyed making the sweets for exhibition night.
2.) This project was all about personal thoughts and had lots of content. I personally really enjoyed making and handing out the treats at the exhibition. Post exhibition I gained an insight about myself. I really want to do something with my life that spreads kindness and brings meaning. I realized this because after seeing everyone light up with excitement and joy from the delicious goodies I felt good about what I had done. In other words I felt proud that people enjoyed my project and I want to continue to live life like this. Throughout the unit we learned about eudaimonia, Aristotle's vast philosophies and personally I feel like after learning about these things my brain began to ask way more self questions and I began to think more about how I want to lead my life. For example, after learning about Aristotle's eudaimonia I started asking myself eternal questions on how I could reach eudaimonia in my life. I realized that in order to reach it I have to live freely with less fears and do the things I find fun instead of doing what others find fun. The biggest insight about the universe that I procured was simply that everyone should live their own life. Meaning that if no one judged or showed cruelty towards others and instead lived their own life. I feel like this would result in more eudaimonia for others and that's how I plan to live my life whether or not others join me.
3.) I definitely noticed that philosophy, happiness, and meaning were very important in this project. For slime reason though this unit got me to start asking lots of personal but also just widespread questions to myself. Like how am I going to be the best person when I'm older? Or how are humans even here? The point is this unit really got me thinking about my life and the huge universe that we are living in like what. The main question I have to still answer is: What am I supposed to do with my life? I know now that I want to live a life where i'm happy frequently or find meaning in my life frequently. Though I'm still clueless as to where I should go and what next steps I need to take. Another question in my life that is unanswered is: How can I satisfy everyone in my life yet still put my life first? This question I think will follow me for a while until i log into my adult life and hopefully it will be a lot easier to meet the expectations. Here's a few questions that solely focus on the human place in the world but also come back to myself.

- Why is the earth here? Literally a flying rock in space like how is that possible?
- Why do humans exist? To destroy and conquer? To gain knowledge and spread knowledge? What do you think?
- Can I hold myself to a life of no judgment? Is that even possible?
- What would the earth be like without human existence?
Into the Wild Inter-Textual Literary Analysis:
Before this project was launched we read the book Into the Wild and watched the movie. I think the point of this was to see Chris Mcandle's point of life and philosophy. After reading and watching the film we made our own interpretations of the book. Then we wrote and refined inter-textual essays that combined lots of texts and knowledge into a personal interpretation of the book.
Rhetoric and Ideology Project
This project we learned all about effective rhetoric and different ideologies. But also how to make effective rhetoric and show your perspective on a topic.
